In other news

The following are some photos from the past week or so that I've taken on the side.

So funny story. My editor informed me of a naked bicycle ride that was to happen last Saturday at 6 pm. I had work till 7 and dashed out of there as fast as I could to see if I could get there in time if it was still going on. Well I was way late, and got way lost, and discovered the real chinatown, where it was 100% chinese. Not anything like the touristy overcrowded Canal street. It's not that we haven't ventured a little bit deeper into Chinatown before, but certainly not this deep. Honestly, I could have been in China. The following three photos are from this adventure until I finally got directions to my destination.

Today I went along with the staff photographer on two assignments. The first was a portrait of an author at her home. The building was really awesome has you can see....that is the lobby.

And on the way to the second assignment, we passed some old style garden apartments.

Look forward to more to come!

My summer in New York

I originally thought this blog would only be for my studies abroad, but it dawned upon me the other day that I might want to keep track of my adventures around New York City this summer. So to update everyone, I am commuting (what an adventure) into the city 6 days  a week until August 7th. Four days of the week I am working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a special exhibit on the fashion designer, Alexander McQueen. The exhibit is drawing thousands of people a day, and me and my colleagues are there to handle the people and the long lines. It has been fun, similar to what I did at the Smithsonian, but a bit more active. The show certainly attracts interesting people, so the people watching has been entertaining to say the least.  On my other two days in the city, I am a photo intern at New York Press, a weekly alternative publication in the city. Interning for a smaller scale publication has great benefits. I have had photos published each week in the paper since I've started. I'm sent out on all kinds of assignments, and I will put the links here for the articles with my photos posted online so far. I am also having photos published in two local papers they put out that are available by subscription only.
